Ruby Moon
By Matt Cameron
Suitable for Years 10 – 12
Synopsis
It begins like a fairytale but how does this black comedy end?
In picture-perfect Flaming Tree Grove, a little girl called Ruby sets off to visit her Grandma at the end of the cul-de-sac. But she never arrives. When a strange package appears on her parent’s doorstep, Ray and Sylvie Moon are prompted to interview the various quirky characters in their street.
Will the truth behind the disappearance of Ruby be discovered, or is something darker lurking behind the picket fences of Flaming Tree Grove… Matt Cameron’s play is an excellent example of contemporary Australian theatre. Two actors play the roles of Ray and Sylvie Moon as well as the vast array of neighbourhood suspects including Sid the clown, Carl the inventor, Dulcie the spinster and Veronica the seductive cabaret singer.
