Playing Commedia
Commedia is a great way to introduce students to the heightened possibilities of theatre. Using a range of non-naturalistic performance styles including mask, mime, dance, acrobatics and music, students will work with an experienced Commedia performer to develop their own unique caricatures equipped to ridicule politics and popular culture. This workshop is suitable for new and experienced drama classes.

Physical Theatre
Physical Theatre involves using the body and space to create images which tell a clear and interesting story with or without text. This workshop will look at the ways in which dynamic physical images and movement patterns can support text and inform a process.

Brecht and Political Theatre
Brecht’s writing revolutionised western theatre in the 20th century. This workshop involves practical exercises which will help students engage with Brecht’s theories about performance. Facilitated by two actors who have performed Brecht plays, the students will experience a professional demonstration of Brechtian performance styles as well as devise their own small group presentations.

Monologues and Audition techniques
Using excerpts from popular Australian and international plays, students will rehearse and present small monologues under the guidance of experienced Queensland Theatre Company artists. The students will gain experience in monologue delivery as well as pick up some handy audition tips. This workshop is an ideal way to strengthen skills for forming and presenting tasks.
